Head of Family and Divorce Practice Caroline McNally attended the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL) European Chapter Meeting held in Lisbon on 22nd - 26th March 2017. The 3 day Educational Programme of the European Chapter Meeting entitled “Autonomous Brexit?” included presentations and panel discussions on a variety of current issues concerning family law in Europe.
Currently a foreign judgment can be enforced in Hong Kong by one of two means. Firstly, at Common Law, and secondly, through the Statutory Registration Scheme, namely the Foreign Judgments (Reciprocal Enforcement) Ordinance (Cap. 319).
On 13 December 2016, the Nanjing Intermediate People’s Court of Jiangsu Province enforced an arbitral award made by the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission Hong Kong Arbitration Center (“CIETAC HK”), making it the first CIETAC HK award to be enforced in mainland China.
