{"id":2623,"date":"2014-09-01T18:04:37","date_gmt":"2014-09-01T10:04:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gallhk.com\/cn\/?p=2623"},"modified":"2023-11-16T21:32:13","modified_gmt":"2023-11-16T13:32:13","slug":"%e3%80%8a%e5%95%86%e4%b8%9a%e7%ba%a0%e7%ba%b7%e8%a7%a3%e5%86%b3%e3%80%8b%ef%bc%88cdr%ef%bc%89%e7%9a%84-ben-rigby-%e4%b8%93%e8%ae%bf%e9%ab%98%e5%98%89%e5%8a%9b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gallhk.com\/cn\/%e3%80%8a%e5%95%86%e4%b8%9a%e7%ba%a0%e7%ba%b7%e8%a7%a3%e5%86%b3%e3%80%8b%ef%bc%88cdr%ef%bc%89%e7%9a%84-ben-rigby-%e4%b8%93%e8%ae%bf%e9%ab%98%e5%98%89%e5%8a%9b\/","title":{"rendered":"\u300a\u5546\u4e1a\u7ea0\u7eb7\u89e3\u51b3\u300b(CDR) \u7684 BEN RIGBY \u4e13\u8bbf\u9ad8\u5609\u529b"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u9999\u6e2f\u77e5\u540d\u7684\u4e13\u4e1a\u5f8b\u5e08\u884c\u5ba3\u5e03\u4e24\u9879\u5408\u4f19\u8ba1\u753b\uff0c\u663e\u793a\u7ea0\u7eb7\u89e3\u51b3\u5f8b\u5e08\u5728\u5404\u79cd\u89c4\u6a21\u7684\u5f8b\u5e08\u884c\u4e2d\u53d1\u5c55\u5174\u65fa\u3002<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong\u2019s disputes market remains a healthy one; not just at the level of the largest law firms, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallhk.com\/cn\/our-people\/nick-gall\/\"><strong>Nick Gall<\/strong><\/a>, name partner at leading litigation boutique,\u00a0<strong>Gall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to\u00a0<em>CDR<\/em>\u00a0in Hong Kong, last week, he said: \u201cThe market is busy with a range of disputes- this firm has been involved in commercial litigation, high-net worth family law disputes, and also Chinese-related claims. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>The firm announced two partner appointments in August 2014, in\u00a0<strong>Caroline McNally<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallhk.com\/cn\/our-people\/chris-wong\/\"><strong>Chris Wong<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and the hire of\u00a0<strong>Brooke<\/strong><strong> Holden<\/strong>, a senior associate, from\u00a0<strong>Pinsent Masons<\/strong>\u00a0in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>Wong, a commercial disputes lawyer, leads the firm\u2019s China practice, whilst McNally leads the firm\u2019s family and divorce one, with Holden specialising in international and domestic arbitration and litigation.<\/p>\n<p>Gall tells\u00a0<em>CDR<\/em>\u00a0that \u201cthe office continues to attract people of quality, with high standards, who want to litigate, who are financially sensible, and adept at serving their clients creatively and flexibly. We attract the kinds of lawyers who like a variety of work, and like going to court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wong\u2019s appointment, says Gall, comes as a result of his having developed the firm\u2019s PRC practice, saying \u201cWe offer an alternative to the very large firms, by offering value for money, and extending our services to law firms in areas where they might welcome a Hong Kong presence like ours, but have perhaps been overlooked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wong\u2019s promotion follows a four year stint at the firm, having joined in October 2010, having developed a wide range of experience in Hong Kong and mainland Chinese-related disputes.<\/p>\n<p>These include complex multi-jurisdictional disputes, <a title=\"Fraud \/ Asset Tracing\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gallhk.com\/cn\/%E6%89%A7%E4%B8%9A%E9%A2%86%E5%9F%9F\/fraud-asset-tracing\/\">fraud and asset recovery<\/a>, <a title=\"Insolvency\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gallhk.com\/cn\/%E6%89%A7%E4%B8%9A%E9%A2%86%E5%9F%9F\/insolvency\/\">contentious insolvency and bankruptcy<\/a>, shareholder and joint venture disputes, in which he has acted for and against numerous mainland Chinese companies and individuals in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>He also has an extensive background in regulatory disputes, ranging from the misselling of financial products, audit negligence claims, and\u00a0anti-corruption investigations\u00a0by Hong Kong\u2019s Independent Commission against Corruption (ICAC).<\/p>\n<p>Gall says there is \u201ca market in Hong Kong for investigatory work which we see larger firms engaged with, which is clearly lucrative, in dealing with corporate investigations, including for US firms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moves in that field include\u00a0<strong>Mini vandePol\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0move\u00a0from Melbourne to Hong Kong\u00a0for\u00a0Baker &amp; McKenzie, plus a hire by\u00a0<strong>Proskauer<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the form of\u00a0<strong>David Chu<\/strong>\u00a0in January 2014, alongside other moves in 2013 by\u00a0<strong>Gibson Dunn<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Freshfields<\/strong>, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>At the associate level, the team welcomed Holden, who advises in relation to domestic and international arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution, both in Hong Kong and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Holden has broad experience representing local and international clients in the resolution of commercial disputes across a range of sectors and jurisdictions.<\/p>\n<p>She tells\u00a0<em>CDR<\/em>: \u201cI have worked in Hong Kong for over nine years, the majority of which were spent at Pinsent Masons specializing in a mix of construction litigation and project work. My move to Gall was prompted by a desire to expand my litigation experience outside construction, into general commercial dispute resolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cWhat I enjoy about working at Gall is the diversity of work and the fact that the lawyers are passionate about what they do. My move was driven by the opportunities the firm could offer both in terms of the nature of work and career prospects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gall said the firm was developing its senior associate ranks, \u201cwith the likes of Holden adding her commercial litigation experience to that of partner,\u00a0<strong>Michael Withington<\/strong>, who joined in 2012.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said Holden joined at a time \u201cwhen our clients are looking for\u00a0further experience in relation to international and domestic arbitration\u00a0and commercial disputes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The firm also appointed\u00a0<strong>Caroline McNally<\/strong>\u00a0as a partner, the head of the firm\u2019s family and divorce practice, who joined Gall as a registered foreign lawyer from\u00a0<strong>Farrer &amp; Co<\/strong>\u00a0in London in March 2013.
